Gearing up to cover the Abu Dhabi Adventure Challenge
Mrs. Yak is not happy. I’ve commandeered our dining room table…it now serves as a staging area for my upcoming trip to Abu Dhabi to cover team Checkpoint Zero as they compete in the Abu Dhabi Adventure Challenge…their prize for having won the 2009 Checkpoint Tracker adventure racing series.
I’ve got all kinds of cool gadgetry laid out…it looks like the Borg are about to sit down for dinner. Camera’s, batteries, chargers, memory cards, GPS, laptop, earbuds, card reader, solar charger, power inverter…the list goes on and on and on.

Campco Safari Photo Vest
Beyond making sure I’ve got what I need to provide the best coverage possible from the Empty Quarter I’ve been trying to decide how exaclty I’m going to manage all this crap in country.
Getting it there is no big deal, but once the race starts I’ll be on the go non-stop and lugging my Lowe Pro gear bag around isn’t an ideal solution. Based on advice from Mike Bitton, who covered the race for me last year, I decided I need a photographer’s vest. Ya, it’s cliche and no doubt I’m going to feel (and probably look) like a poser, but I think it’s the way to go. I settled on the Campco Safari Photo Vest.
Hey Yak, you’re gonna love the vest. Sure, it looks like a safari prop, but it holds tons of stuff you don’t want to put down in the sand!
