“Adventure racing has become very accessible,” stated Will Newcomer, President of Gravity Play Sports. “Not everyone can do a week-long race in a remote corner of the world. But everyone can experience the excitement of a three-hour or one day race in a nearby venue. All you need is an adventurous mindset and a modest degree of fitness.”
The “Sport” races are approximately 50-60 miles (6-12 hours) in length and involve more navigation and distance than the “Sprint” races which are typically 25-30 miles in length and take 3-5 hours to complete. Designed for the adventure racer looking for the ultimate challenge in physical endurance and mental tenacity, the “Adventure” category races are approximately 100 miles in length and take 18-24 hours to complete and involve orienteering over diverse terrain. All of the races in the 2010 Adventure Xstream Race Series are also part of the Checkpoint Tracker Adventure Racing Series with qualifying points up for grabs.
