Hi Peter, thanks for the review. I haven't got a Traileader but one of the guys in my running group has one. He swears by it, and I have to say it is very accurate. The 5 of us all wear different pedometer or gps watches. Several of us have more than one type, so it is always fun to check how accurate each one is. I really like the Tech 4o line up especially the look of the Raven fitness watch.

Great post. There are few things more humbling than making making a few mistakes when everyone is depending on you. It is good for the soul or so they say. Great blog by the way, I have only just discovered it.

You are absolutely right. As someone who has done a fair bit of orienteering there is nothing more maddening than stumbling around. The problem with inaccurate flag placement is that you start to doubt yourself, which can be a fatal mistake if you are really in the wilds.

Looking at the Tech4o web site, all the watches are rated for 10 meters/30 ft. They certainly aren't dive watches like some of the others out there, but for AR I don't think you'll have a problem. There may be some anecdotal evidence that one watch is different from another, but I haven't experienced anything bad.

Like I mentioned in the review, I don't like the black face that the Jet has while racing, it's harder to read on the go. It is certainly a better styled watch for casual use.

Thanks Peter. The Traileader Jet is the model that I had heard concerns about. It turns out that while they are both rated the same, the Jet has a different face material (crystal) that makes it less waterproof but more scratch-resistant. Glad to hear that you haven't had any problems with the Traileader 1.

I have been swimming, paddling, white water rafting, racing in the rain, as well as showering with no ill affects to date. I'd say it is plenty waterproof.
